What do you need to play Outdoor Petanque?
For Outdoor Pétanque, the basic equipment needed is listed below. If you are starting a program for an organization such as Parks and Recs, Schools, Rehabilitation Centers, Private Communities, Campgrounds or Senior Centers, we have included a recommended starter package for you as well.
Outdoor Boules
Recreational Boules that come in a set of 6. Each set of 3 is either smooth or patterned so that players can distinguish their boules from their opponents on the court.
Each set of six comes with target ball, measuring string and storage box. Storage box will be hard plastic in multiple colors to extend life of the boules and case.

Player's Circle
Flat player's circle, 50cm (20") inside diameter. In red or yellow.
For easier travel, folding circles are available (see below). These fold and snap together at the end and are easy to put in a small case or backpack.

Measuring Tape
MS Pétanque 2 Meter tape measure that is pocket size in multiple colors. Comes with a clasp to connect to bag or clothing. Essential for measuring which boule is closer to the pig.
Scoreboard
16" x 32" Scoreboard made from durable and lightweight corrugated plastic. Can be custom printed with your logo.

It is recommended that you purchase a couple of extra target balls as these tend to get the most abuse!
Court
The wonderful thing about pétanque is that you don't need a formal place to play - any gravel or sandy space will work. But, if you want to have scheduled, organized play, it doesn't cost a fortune to build a great terrain! Check out our page on how to build a court to see what is involved.

For Outdoor Pétanque, the basic equipment needed is listed below. If you are starting a program for an organization such as Parks and Recs, Schools, Rehabilitation Centers, Private Communities, Campgrounds or Senior Centers, we have included a recommended starter package for you as well.
Indoor Boules
These soft PVC coated boules are recommended for indoor play and are safe for hardwoods and gym floors! Comes in sets of three or six. Each set of three boules comes with one soft target ball and a cardboard storage box. Sets of 6 come in a zippered case. Great for schools, rec centers, senior centers, and rehabilitation facilities!
Adult diameters are 74mm/ 680g or 400g.
Juniors' sizes in 65mm/400g or 200g
Multiple fun color options!
